[Hybrid Event] Construction Site Strategies for Respiratory Health
Join Illinois Green for a hybrid event hosted with Leopardo Construction, United Rentals and the Respiratory Health Association, where we will highlight strategies that positively impact respiratory health outcomes while also reducing the emissions of greenhouse gases from jobsites.
You’ll learn about specific technologies and low-emission equipment currently available in the local market, along with guidance on developing project specifications and requirements to achieve these goals. The Respiratory Health Association will share how its mission aligns with supporting marginalized communities in Chicagoland that face disproportionate exposure to respiratory health risks and air pollution hot spots, along with the importance of respiratory health for the construction community.

The panel of speakers will connect these strategies with existing local ordinances and green building rating systems that are prioritizing these strategies from a two-fold perspective of environment and health.
This event will be hosted in a hybrid format, with both in-person and virtual attendance options available.
Learning Objectives:
- Analyze the relationship between diesel emissions from construction site equipment and respiratory health.
- Identify technologies and equipment available in the Chicagoland region to reduce jobsite emissions and improve health outcomes.
- Define actions that design and construction team members can take to implement emissions reductions strategies on their projects.
- Explain how reducing jobsite emissions improves health, safety, and comfort, lowers embodied carbon, and contributes to green building certifications and overall project success.
Speakers:
Rob Anderson, CEO & President, Respiratory Health Association
Patty Lloyd, Director of Sustainability, Leopardo Construction
Grant Zoldowski, PE, Director, Environmental Management, United Rentals, Inc.
