Illinois Green Schools Project

School Recruitment Volunteer

What is a 'School Recruitment Volunteer'?

A Green School Recruitment Volunteer helps to spread the word about the Illinois Green School Project by connecting with their local school, district, or school board and introducing the program and the benefits it provides to their students and community.

How does it work?

School registration for the Illinois Green Schools Project typically opens around the end of August, beginning of September. By signing up for this opportunity, you add your name to a list to be sent an IGSP Promotional Toolkit around the beginning of the registration period.  This document includes a short informational video on how to share the program with your contacts, as well as links to flyers, videos, and email scripts. Once you receive the toolkit and feel comfortable with content - you are ready to outreach to your local school!

Once school registrations have closed for the year, a survey will be sent out to previous volunteers to hear about their outreach experience to uncover any lessons learned, tips and tricks, in preparation for the following year. At that time, the volunteer role has concluded. To participate again next year, re-submit the form anytime after the feedback period.
