Join Illinois Green Alliance for a tour of two adaptive reuse projects in Evanston: Lodge Evanston and The Varsity. These projects showcase the potential of building reuse in an urban setting and demonstrate that all-electric multifamily housing is both feasible and market-ready. During the tour, you'll learn about the construction process, key decision points, the strategies used to build community support, and how the projects are catalyzing all-electric adoption in Evanston.

Lodge Evanston transforms a century-old church into 30 modern apartments, preserving Evanston’s historic context while adding housing density on a transit-connected, underutilized lot at the edge of downtown and steps from Northwestern University. Designed by ISA, the project blends innovative, environmentally conscious design with direct access to the cultural, educational, and recreational amenities of Evanston’s city center.]

The Varsity introduces a collection of architecturally unique residences in the heart of downtown Evanston. The 35 units—each with their own distinctive character—celebrate the legacy of the Varsity Theater, one of the most spectacular movie palaces in the country. The Varsity provides a graceful balance between old and new, featuring original exposed brick, tile, and trusses paired with modern finishes. Next to Bookman’s Alley and steps away from Lake Michigan, the Varsity is surrounded by retail, dining, and transit options.
