LEEDv5 For Builders: Key Changes from LEED v4 and What They Mean for Construction

Join us for an upcoming session that will explore key differences between LEED v4 and LEED v5 that affect construction-phase coordination and project delivery. While many design and construction professionals are familiar with LEED documentation and certification processes, LEED v5 introduces updated priorities related to decarbonization, material transparency, and building performance verification that influence construction activities and project coordination.

In this program you’ll have the opportunity to review major LEED v5 changes relevant to builders, including updates to low-emitting materials requirements, increased emphasis on environmental product disclosures, and expanded commissioning and testing expectations. The session will also examine how these changes affect product selection, submittal review, material substitutions, and construction scheduling.

Through practical examples and real-world scenarios, you’ll get a better understanding of common construction-phase risks associated with LEED v5 implementation and examine strategies builders can use to coordinate documentation, testing, and verification activities during construction. The session concludes with approaches for integrating LEED v5 requirements into construction planning and project workflows to support successful project certification.

Learning Objectives

  • Compare key construction-phase differences between LEED v4 and LEED v5, including updated priorities related to decarbonization, material transparency, and building performance verification.
  • Evaluate how LEED v5 credit updates influence product selection, submittal review, and documentation requirements for common construction materials such as interior finishes, adhesives, and sealants.
  • Analyze potential construction-phase risks associated with LEED v5 implementation, including product substitutions, commissioning coordination, and testing requirements that may affect project schedule and certification outcomes.
  • Apply strategies to integrate LEED v5 requirements into construction planning, sequencing, and documentation workflows to support successful project delivery and certification.
