Resilience Hubs: A Blueprint for Climate Adaptation

Join Illinois Green for a webinar that examines the principles of climate-resilient design and explores real-life case studies detailing how resilience hubs provide resources and support to a diverse array of communities.

In this educational session, participants will walk away with a toolkit of resilient design tactics that can be applied in future projects of all scales and types. You’ll hear from two Technical Assistance provider design professionals—from Farr Associates and SmithGroup, who guided conceptual design work to elevate resilience hubs across the US, from rural settings to urban contexts.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define the characteristics of a resilience hub and explain how this type of infrastructure supports resilience, social connection, and economic strength in traditionally disadvantaged communities.
  2. Apply proven design strategies to promote resilient solutions across a range of project types.
  3. Outline a phased design approach that enables flexible master planning and supports client decision-making over time.
  4. Identify strategies for prioritizing renewable energy tax credits to reduce first costs and long-term operating expenses.

Speakers:

  • Victoria Brinemugha, Senior Mechanical Engineer, SmithGroup
  • Alina Tompert, Project Manager | Architect, Farr Associates
