Champion Proven Solutions
Clean, healthy buildings bring energy bills down, grow the economy and job market, improve public health, and are simply better places to live in — and there are programs and policies for local leaders to support them.
The Illinois Clean Building Commitment empowers local leaders to bring clean buildings and their benefits to everyone in their community.
How we can help
The Illinois Clean Building Commitment makes clean buildings and energy efficiency simple and achievable.
We put communities on a pathway to their goals by:
- Creating a tailored pathway for communities to meet their goals,
- Providing technical assistance, expert knowledge, and resources,
- Assisting with accessing funding sources and incentives,
- Supporting leaders as they engage their communities.
Local Green Building Case Study
City of Evanston
In early 2025, Evanston became a national leader for clean buildings. Having implemented Energy Benchmarking policies in 2016, Evanston built on their progress and became the first municipality in the state to adopt the Illinois Stretch Energy Codes and Building Performance Standards.
